U ON ICE

In December, Jaarbeursplein in Utrecht once again transformed into a magical winter destination: U on Ice. From December 8 to 26, visitors could enjoy free ice skating every day on an impressive 30 by 15 metre ice rink, complete with a playful winding route for extra skating fun. Surrounding the rink, a cosy winter landscape came to life, featuring a curling zone, warm hospitality at the Polar Pavilion and inviting seating areas on the atmospheric Winter Island.

With an extensive programme of activities – from open skating and live music to a silent disco on ice and dedicated children’s activities – U on Ice brought warmth, energy and festive spirit to the heart of the city. The event grew into a true winter hotspot where residents, visitors and local entrepreneurs came together to celebrate the December season. In total, U on Ice welcomed over 30,000 visitors to Jaarbeursplein. Additionally, the event generated more than 609,200 social media impressions through channels such as DUIC, AD, Indebuurt and RTV Utrecht.

With this initiative, the entrepreneurs of Beursplein Utrecht aimed not only to create a vibrant meeting place, but also an accessible and inclusive event for everyone. Admission was free, visitors could borrow skates at no cost and the programme catered to a wide range of audiences. For nearly three weeks, Jaarbeursplein became a place where people didn’t just pass through, but stayed to experience winter together.
