Every month, The Groundbreakers puts an inspiring initiative, product or company in the spotlight. By sharing knowledge and inspiration, we want to stimulate sustainable developments and hope to contribute to the greening of business. This time we would like to highlight the sustainable transport company De Rooy. The Groundbreakers works with this company for the electric transport of large set pieces.

Electric trucks

Electric truck transport is still very unique in the Netherlands. De Rooy Transport is therefore a forerunner in this. They not only arrange sustainable transport, but the entire process from storage to order picking and repackaging, both within the Netherlands and internationally. All employees are in possession of a valid ADR certificate. This means that they can also transport dangerous substances through Europe in an adequate, safe and responsible manner.

Awards

De Rooy has also won a number of awards. Including the Leen & Green Award, which places them among the 90 leaders in the transport sector in the field of sustainability. They are also BOVAG Certified Sustainable and have signed the Green Deal Zero Emission City Logistics. As part of the Greendriver project, De Rooy invests in the purchase of vehicles running on green gas with a view to sustainable transport. In this way they make a positive contribution to reducing CO2 emissions and improving air quality.

Own forest for CO2 compensation

Unlike most companies that use CO2-compensation anonymous purchasing, De Rooy Transport has opted for a solution close to home. There is a CO on the site behind their distribution center in 't Goy2-forest created. A private forest, 3 hectares in size with approximately 3,000 ash trees. This forest largely absorbs the emitted CO2.

Did you know?

De Rooy Transport has succeeded in achieving a 28% CO2 reduction in five years. Something they are very proud of and for which they have now achieved the Lean and Green STAR Award, due to proven and structural CO2-reduction. A certificate that very few transport companies have.
